The 4 Myths Of Estate Agent Websites

In March 2022, we wrote a guide informing you on all of the key factors you need to be aware of when buying a new estate agency site, and since then we have spoken to thousands of agencies worldwide clearing up the common myths and misconceptions they have heard along the way.

Being in the sector you will know that the real estate industry is quite saturated and with this comes along myths and misconceptions we are here to clear them up once and for all…

Myth 1: Estate agent websites are only for listing properties

Many people believe that estate agent websites serve only one purpose, which is to display property listings. However, modern estate agent websites offer a wide range of features and services beyond just listing properties.

From providing valuable information about the local property market to offering resources for buyers and sellers, and even including tools for mortgage calculators, property valuation, and neighbourhood information. An estate agent should be your one-stop shop for all things real estate and if they are struggling to provide you with a service they should have the ability and knowledge to make suggestions of local companies that can help!

Myth 2: All estate agent websites are the same

While some estate agent websites may have similarities in terms of basic functionality, there can be significant differences in terms of design, user experience, and the range of features they offer.

With features such as property search options, integration with social media and the overall quality of the content/images on your site, just because two estate agency websites look the same does not mean the service they provide is the same. Choose your agency wisely, base your decision on your priorities and needs!

Myth 3: Estate agent websites are expensive

The common perception we discover when first speaking with an agency is that they believe that investing in a good quality website is going to be a costly and timely experience although this is not necessarily true…

With the constant advancements in technology and also the availability of agencies and services, having a high-functioning user-friendly website does not have to be costly.

Our AgentPlus platform is a prime example of this. With a dedicated development team whose sole focus is to maintain and develop the platform, AgentPlus allows agents to choose between 6 expertly designed templates, producing an attractive high-quality website turned around in as little as 28 days all for a deposit of £1500 and £150 a month.

Alternatively, there is always the bespoke option… Perfect for agents wanting to stand out from the crowd and have an exact vision in mind of what they want their site to look like. With a completely bespoke design and functionality, this is always going to be much more of a costly option although it is never the only option for estate agents.

Myth 4: Estate agent websites are not effective in generating leads…

Your website should be one of your main sources of leads, although we stand by the fact that there is a big difference between simply owning a website and having a digital presence.

With expectations of buyers and sellers wanting their questions answered and properties sold quickly, your agency needs to stay ahead of the curve, and your website can be the catalyst for this change.

By implementing strategies such as search engine optimization (SEO), online advertising, and lead capture forms, estate agent websites can help generate a steady stream of qualified leads.

Some people may believe that traditional methods like newspaper ads or word-of-mouth referrals are more effective than estate agent websites for generating leads. However, in today’s digital age, a well-designed and optimized website can be a powerful tool for attracting and converting leads.

The purchase of a new website is a big investment for any Estate Agent and one that can be very rewarding. The majority of an Estate Agents business should be handled through the website, so it’s so important that you are making the right choice. Looking for some advice?
