2018 Digital Marketing Trends To Follow

2019 digital marketing trends

The New Year is well underway, so if you haven’t already it’s time to review your existing marketing strategy and find out what the latest trends are in order to keep ahead of the growing digital competition.

Get your Estate Agency on the right track in 2018 by following our top tips.

Mobile first

It’s 2018 so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that your website should be optimised responsively for mobile devices. Did you know that over 60% of Google searches are from a mobile device? Google recently announced that they’re switching over to a ‘mobile first index’. This means that they will rank the mobile version of your website first, even if a user is searching from a desktop.

What does this mean for Estate Agents?

If an estate agents website can’t be viewed on a mobile device they could lose potential clients. Did you know that 89% of new home buyers use a mobile search engine at the onset and throughout their research.

Voice Search

So you’ve probably heard of Siri, Alexa or Google Home, voice search is becoming increasingly popular and it is predicted that by 2020 50% of all online searches will be voice driven.

In 2018 make sure that you optimise your website for voice search. Some phrases you may want to rank for are: “Where can I find a local estate agent?” or “Who are the local Estate Agents” Rather than “Estate Agents near me”. When using voice search we are more likely to ask a question as we would when talking to a person, rather than just using short keyword terms as we would when typing in Google.

User experience

The users experience is an important ranking factor that Google is constantly improving, which means that you need to provide them with an optimal experience in order to maintain an exceptional digital presence.

Make sure that you are providing the best possible user experience! Ensure that your estate agency website is easy to navigate, make it clear where your properties are listed and how people can enquire about them. If you can keep the user interested and are easily contactable, you will gain a lot more enquiries.

Website Checklist

In Depth content

It used to be enough to write content and make sure your keywords were ‘stuffed’ into the content to rank on Google. It’s 2018 and Google is getting more and more intelligent, so you need to put more time and effort into your website by creating the best possible content that your competitors don’t offer.

How can an estate agent create more in depth content?

It’s not enough to simply add a small description of the property you are selling. Estate Agents must add as much information as possible about their properties which should include adding videos or 360 imagery of inside the property. Obviously there is only so much information that you can provide about a property for sale, but if you portray this information across to the user in the best possible way, you will reap the benefits.

Speed

In today’s fast paced society people want things ‘yesterday’, so it’s no surprise that when someone is searching online, if a page loads to slowly they are gone before you get the chance engage.

Want to know how fast your website loads?

Check out Google’s PageSpeed Insights. Here Google will tell you exactly what needs improving on your website in order to improve the page speed, this will most likely include compressing images, minifying the JavaScript and much more which your website developers are able to do.
