Because of their continued success and growth, My-French-House decided that it was the right time to redesign and redevelop their website in late 2016 with Property Webmasters. This was an important step for the business and showed their ambition to make buying French property as easy as possible.
There was so much to think about from the start. My-French-House did not just want to reskin their current website; this was a full redevelopment that would stabilise the longevity of the website, and business. We wanted to replicate current undertakings on the website, but we felt there was so much more potential to make buying property in France even easier.
We sent the team at PW an extensive brief of more than 20 pages. One of the main areas of concern was to ensure a smooth transition for the many users who have enjoyed looking at properties on the website over the last 14 years or so. But as a business owner, I really needed to ensure that ALL the data from our clients was transferred across safely, on a platform that’s easy to use and secure, our clients privacy and security is paramount to us. In addition, we use various XML feeds in various formats, and we needed to be 100% sure that PW and their team were able to handle this as it’s such a specialist job.
They were happy to take on the challenge (a big one), answered all our questions in a timely manner, and after meeting Jamie, James, Rich and the team in the super slick HQ, we gave them the green light as they understood exactly the service we were looking for and supplied a very competitive quote. As expected, the team managed the project extremely well , and the website was successfully launched early july, with no down time at all and the clients are very happy with the seemingless hassle free transition, as well as the various search engines, including Google.
We have received many fantastic comments from clients since who are delighted with the new website, especially the new tools that are available to them to help with their search. We now have a fantastic looking website, that’s easy to use for our clients and the team. Perhaps more importantly, we have managed to keep all the properties, files, images, data from the various system, and now have a very stable and healthy platform on which we can build on for many years to come.
I am delighted to whole heartedly recommend Jamie and his team to anyone looking to re-launch their website, or are worried about changing their website management set up in fear of losing information, clients or seo rankings. Thanks again guys, I am very happy to have found you, keep up the good work! Patrick JOSEPH – MD at My-French-House.com
As well as enhancing the functionally and improving the design logic throughout the website, arguably the biggest obstacle to overcome was data migration. Data migration is generally a huge cause of concern for any client looking to make a leap from one software platform to another. Naturally, this concern is reflected in the questions we are asked when redeveloping property portals (or large estate agencies):
“What about my current data?”
“Could we keep the same back-end?”
“How can my data work on your system?”
However, at Property Webmasters, we are here to provide a helping hand with this.
We will generally always build the back-end of a redeveloped website using our software, rather than use the current system your website is built on. Sometimes it can take just as long for us to understand an external system than rebuild a more efficient one. With Property Webmasters having over 10 years experience in the property marketing industry, we have developed a specialised back-end Dashboard that is not only fully relevant to the property industry, but very easy to use and secure.
Our specialist data team are able to take a database dump from the current website, then transfer and implement into the redeveloped site, as long as the data is extracted from a database of sorts. This can range from extensive property details, user information, agents (including all XML Data Feeds), news articles, page content and much more!
This was the exact situation with My-French-House. After receiving the relevant data, the precious data was transferred onto the redeveloped website and ready to work with.
What if you currently do not have a MySQL database? No problem! We can use a csv file format to integrate data into our database. Data can be extracted from any type of database into a csv format.
So there it is; Property Webmasters can redevelop your whole system while maintaining the business critical data the website has collated over many years, with My-French-House acting as a glowing example of this.
